April on the Isle of Skye


1 April 2017 . . . . Spent a few hours in Glen Brittle and heard a Snipe drumming, saw a small flock of Redwings and also a pair of Goosanders.

2 April 2017 . . . . Spent the day in Sleat and saw a pair of Red-throated Divers, a pair of Great Northern Divers, an Eider, Ringed Plovers, Turnstones and Teal. On the track to Leitir Fura I saw my first butterfly of the year: a Green-veined White.

14 April 2017 . . . . Down at Skinadin this morning there were lots of Willow Warblers singing and at least one Chiffchaff.

20 April 2017 . . . . Just two species in the moth trap this morning: 7 Red Chestnut and 7 Hebrew Character. Weather wasn't brilliant this afternoon but a walk to Leitir Fura produced these:
