There are around 30 species of Orthoptera found in the UK. The group can be divided into four main groups: grasshoppers, groundhoppers, bush-crickets and ‘true’ crickets. Here are some I've come across on Skye:
Omocestus viridulus (Common Green Grasshopper) Family: Acrididae	Chorthippus parallelus (Meadow Grasshopper) Family: Acrididae
Tetrix undulata (Common Groundhopper) Family: Acrididae	Chorthippus brunneus (Field Grasshopper) Family: Acrididae
